About me:

There are few things in life I enjoy as much as cooking & eating!  I'm the type of person who plans their day around what my next meal is, and when I'm going to eat it.  I think my passion for food stemmed from growing up in a home where my family ate dinner together every night, non-negotiable.  Some of my favorite dishes from when I was younger include my Grandpa's Hungarian papikash, taco pie, spaghetti, chicken & noodles, and home-made doughnuts.  For as long as I can remember, I loved being my Mom's Sous Chef.  From cracking eggs and mixing batter, to tossing chicken in breading and chopping vegetables.  We were a family that cooked and ate together.

My poor parents, I was such a picky eater as a kid.  My mom used to set the timer on the stove and if my food wasn't gone when that timer went off, up to my room I went.  [Thank goodness for Dad, who would eat my food when Mom's back was turned!]  Luckily, my taste buds have changed dramatically as I've gotten older.  In college, I remember training myself to like tomatoes.  It's a staple in so many recipes, and I was the only one still picking them out of my food at the dining hall.  Funny enough, I add tomatoes to just about everything!  Fresh tomatoes, stewed tomatoes, frozen tomatoes, tomato sauce, tomato paste....love, love, LOVE tomatoes!

As you may notice in my recipes and future blogs, I'm a sucker for quick & easy recipes.  As a new mom, I have roughly 20 (30 if I'm lucky) minutes to prep and cook dinner.  My recipes will come from The Food Network, AllRecipes.com, Cooking Light magazine, Weight Watchers, and my new addiction, Pinterest.  However, the tastiest recipes come from my family and friends.

My indulgences: sushi, tacos, pasta, burgers, and yes...fried food.  Variety is the spice of life, right?  In my journey to live a healthier life, I've been trying hard to incorporate more fresh foods to my daily diet.  Speaking of diet...I hate that word.  I hate what it represents.  Who wants to diet?  Not me!  I've tried dieting and here's what I've experienced: I'm hungry and grumpy.  Neither are fun for me, or those around me.  In the past, I've had success with Weight Watchers, but if you ask anyone whose done the program, it is NOT a diet.  It's a lifestyle change.  It's learning how to portion your food, choose the right foods for you, and still allows you to indulge a little.  It's all about balance.

I've never blogged before.  As a disclaimer, I'm not a Chef, nor a journalist.  I'm just someone who loves to eat, and share!  This is a taste of my life...bon appetit!
